Many Ryu's
(schools) have a creed or motto that they adhere too. This section
of this Annex is dedicated to my current Jujitsu Ryu.
Seii
|
|
|
The
most important concepts contained in the word Seii are sincerity, faith, and
trust. To make a sincere friendship and to place one's trust in another
person is Seii manifested. But the ideas of confidence, honesty, hope, and love
are also part of Seii. |
Kinro |
|
|
Kinro
is labor, endeavor, and exertion. It is a lavished labor, a labor that is
necessary and useful. Kinro is an active and altruistic endeavor. It is an
energetic effort made to attain a goal. Kinro is exertion and requires one to
continue unremittingly, exploiting one's total mental and physical abilities. |
Kenshiki
|
|
|
Knowledge,
insight, dignity, and awareness form the basis of Kenshiki. Knowledge in not
only accumulated, it deepens as one attempts to understand modern society and as
new knowledge is discovered. Its use is a necessity for one's future triumphs.
Kenshiki is not knowledge alone. It is embodied in the person of insight, the
person who has a keen, remarkable insight into human nature. Kenshiki combines
knowledge and insight with dignity - a calm dignity, the dignity of human worth.

Kihaku |
|
|
Spirit
is the most meaningful translation of Kihaku. One must learn to cultivate the
spirit of fair play, loyalty, friendship, and honorable peace. Kihaku is the
display of spirit, poise, and courage in the face of danger. It is the nurturing
of human independence, responsibility, and inquiry. Kihaku fosters courage and
the cultivation of vitality. |
