The technique shown below is
illustrated in my book Modern Self Defense for
the 21st
Note:
All techniques
should be learned under the guidance of a qualified Jujitsu instructor.
Care must be taken to ensure that Tori does not strike Uke. Kicks, and
strikes must stop 6 inches short of the target. Additionally, only throw
Uke onto a surface specifically designed to absorb such impact and only
after proper break falls have been learned.
Key points
to remember when practicing this technique
Never "snap" a joint technique. Serious injury can occur.
Don't allow Uke a chance to really lock down the grab. React immediately
when the attack begins.
Move your body.
Don't stand still. Use angles to increase the effectiveness of this technique.
Tori steps back deeply
with the left foot and strikes with a left Hiji-Ate (elbow strike).
Bringing the left arm over and around the right arm securing it, Tori
strikes with a Shotei-Tsuki (palm heal thrust) to the head. Bringing the
right arm around the head, Tori throws Uke with Tia-Otoshi. Holding onto
the right elbow after the throw, Tori finishes with a left Shotei-Tsuki
(palm heal thrust) to the head.
Note - lower left picture shot from reverse angle for better view
Remember, without safety, there can be no
Jujitsu.
