The technique shown below is
illustrated in my book Modern Self Defense for
the 21st
Note:
All techniques
should be learned under the guidance of a qualified Jujitsu instructor.
Care must be taken to ensure that Tori does not strike Uke. Kicks, and
strikes must stop 6 inches short of the target. Additionally, only throw
Uke onto a surface specifically designed to absorb such impact and only
after proper break falls have been learned.
Key points
to remember when practicing this technique
Never "snap" a joint technique. Serious injury can occur.
Don't allow Uke a chance to really lock down the grab. React immediately
when the attack begins.
Move your body.
Don't stand still. Use angles to increase the effectiveness of this technique.
Tori lowers the center
of gravity, placing both hands onto the head, feeling for Uke’s thumb.
Tori strikes with a right Kansetsu-Geri (stomp kick) to the instep of
the right foot, turns 180 degrees in the direction that the thumb is on.
Tilting the head backwards while standing upward, Tori takes the wrist
joint. Using the same arm that Uke grabbed with, Tori performs a Kake-Geri
(hook block), with the other hand, Shotei-Tsuki (palm heal thrust).
Placing the elbow under the chin, Tori throws Uke with O-Soto-Gari, then
strikes with Kansetsu-Geri (stomp kick) to the head.
Remember, without safety, there can be no
Jujitsu.
