The technique shown below is
illustrated in my book Modern Self Defense for
the 21st
WARNING
Techniques against weapons, especially firearms should only be
attempted by experienced martial artists who have practiced these
techniques for many years, or when you are certain that your life is in
imminent mortal danger.
The
following is only a sample of one Jujitsu weapon defense technique. I
encourage you to further study under a qualified instructor.
Note:
All techniques
should be learned under the guidance of a qualified Jujitsu instructor.
Care must be taken to ensure that Tori does not strike Uke. Kicks, and
strikes must stop 6 inches short of the target. Additionally, only throw
Uke onto a surface specifically designed to absorb such impact and only
after proper break falls have been learned.
Key points
to remember when practicing this technique
Firearms
Self-defense against
firearms is the most dangerous situation. I suggest that you follow
instructions except in the case where the attacker plans to take you to
an isolated area (secondary crime scene). Statistically you have a
better chance of surviving by trying to escape, running into a crowded
area such as a parking lot. Even if wounded, you will draw attention to
yourself and have a better chance to get assistance. When the firearm is
placed against your body, there are Jujitsu techniques that involve the
use of jamming the gun's chamber or hammer while at the same time
quickly moving your body away from the guns line of fire.
Uke applies the gun to the
mid chest of Tori. Tori moves the upper torso counter clockwise and
places the right hand on top of the gun and the gun hammer. Securing the
gun from underneath with the left hand, Tori turns the gun counter
clockwise. Stepping inward Tori throws Uke with O-Soto-Gari and removes
the gun from Uke.
Remember, without safety, there can be no
Jujitsu.
